What Are Affirmations?
According to Success Conscious, this is how affirmations are defined:
Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The words composing the affirmation, automatically and involuntarily, bring up related mental images into the mind, which could inspire, energize and motivate.
So who uses affirmations? Is this only a woo-woo practice?
Spiritual entrepreneurs (I consider myself one), bloggers, and spiritual women all use affirmations for their everyday life. You can use it for weight loss, starting a blog, or manifesting a relationship into your life. No matter your dream you can use it for pretty much anything you want in your life.
You can create your own or I also work with my clients to come up with something that they vibe with. I personally use affirmations in my manifestation processes to amplify the process.
Who Uses Positive Affirmations for Success?
Affirmations are best for people who are trying to step into the embodied version of themselves who already has what they’re manifesting or trying to achieve. You don’t have to be spiritual to use affirmations. Anyone, you, me, your mom or grandma can use them.
For example, this means if you want to lose weight, you’ll be acting as if you already lost weight. What would that person at your ideal weight be thinking, doing, and eating every day?
If you’re working on using affirmations to launch your business, you’ll be acting as if you have that business already. You’ll be marketing and promoting your services and products and getting yourself in front of more people so that people can see you as a leader in your space.

How to Use Affirmations for Success and Wealth
You’re ready right? To use affirmations to skyrocket your success in life or business?
But before we learn how to use affirmations for success, we have to pick an area we want to be successful in and then create your affirmation.
Step #1: Pick an Area of Life You Want to Succeed In
I’m sure there are some areas you want to succeed more in than other areas. Choose one area of your life to create an affirmation for.
Just pick one, for now, you can always come back to create affirmations for another area of your life when you have time. Don’t overthink this, there might be one area of life where you care about the most. Let’s work on that area first.
If you’re having trouble, here’s a good leaping point:
- Health
- Career
- Money
- Relationships and friendships
- Personal development
- Creativity
- Business
- Spirituality
Most people in life want success in one or more of these areas in life. There’s a reason most New Year’s Resolutions focus on these areas.
Step #2: Start with Affirmations that Begin with “I am…”
The most basic affirmations begin with the phrase “I am…” although there are other ways to create affirmations too. But let’s not overwhelm you and just start with the basics.
When you use the word “I am”, you’re essentially reprogramming your subconscious mind to believe in something you’re aspiring to become. I’m not always a fan of the phrase, let’s “fake it till you make it” but it’s okay to use it for affirmations. You won’t have to tell anyone your little secret relationship with your affirmations (unless you want to).
Your subconscious mind is about the age of a 7-year child so when you write your affirmations, you need to be direct. It doesn’t process complicated language or negatives.

Use Positive Language To Create Affirmations
A negative is when you use the word “don’t.” For example, your subconscious mind won’t understand “I don’t want to feel unworthy of starting a business and making money.” Not to mention this sounds a little low vibe too right?
A more effective affirmation is saying, “I’m deserving of having the most amazing clients and business that I can dream of.” You see how much high vibe that is?
Which one do you think a 7-year-old child will respond more to? The boring and unworthy line in the first example? Or the excitement in the second example?
I know that an affirmation might disgust you in the beginning if you’re so far away from your goal. That’s natural. Just go with the flow and believe in the process. Really, the most difficult part of this process is “believing.”
Now that you know how to write an affirmation, grab a pen and pencil and write “I am…” followed by who you want to become. It’s okay if you feel slightly disgusted by your affirmation. This means you’re aiming for the best. Trust me, over time, it will stick with you.
So that’s it. You now have an affirmation for success in business or life.
Step #3: Read Your Affirmations Every Day
Creating your affirmations are one thing but knowing how to use affirmations for success is another thing. In step 3, we’re finally using them and applying it to our everyday life.
I know we all want that magic pill that makes you feel better overnight, but affirmations aren’t an overnight success. They work, but it takes time for your subconscious to soak it in.
The kindest thing you can do for yourself is to read it every day a couple of times.
You’re probably wondering how you can remember to do that every day when you’ve got a ton on your plate right?
Here are a few of my favorite ways to remember to get my mind food in:
-
Chant your affirmations during meditation.
I meditate almost every day. I recommend the same for you even if you only do it for 10 minutes. If you’re completely new to beginning meditation, I recommend guided meditation apps like Headspace, Simple Habits and Calm. Otherwise, if you prefer to do your meditation, simply chant the affirmation you just created over and over during your meditation.
-
Repeat and visualize it right before you go to sleep.
This is really powerful and I’ve been able to reprogram my subconscious mind to become a morning person and wake up at 5 am. Right before you fall asleep, your brain enters this relaxing phase with alpha waves. When you chant your affirmations then, your mind is the most susceptible to believing your affirmations.

Have it on your iPhone wallpaper.
I currently have an affirmation that says “It is safe for me to be a rich and powerful woman” on my iPhone wallpaper. I can’t wait for that to manifest into my reality in one way or another. We all pick up our phones too many times each day. (You know you do, don’t deny it, girl.) So what does that mean? Every chance you get to see your affirmation is a chance that your mind will start to believe it! How effortless right? In fact, my last affirmation that I’ve manifested said: “It is safe to be who I am.” I use to be terrible at vulnerability, telling stories and showing up as myself.
-
Change your desktop wallpaper.
Just like your iPhone wallpaper, create your affirmation in an easy-to-use and free tool called Canva. I currently have a vision board that I’ve created 2 months ago on my desktop and I’ve already manifested one thing on it. It can work the same for your affirmation.
-
Stick notes all-around your home.
This one is really cute and if you live with anyone else, everyone can benefit from your positive affirmations! Write small paper notes with your affirmations and stick them in places you’ll see them every day. For example, your bathroom mirror, your fridge, your kitchen sink. Everywhere you go, you’re having good thoughts! Magical right?
These are all great tips on how to use affirmations for success and wealth. Which one clicks with you?
Step #4: Visualize Your Positive Affirmation for Success and Wealth
It’s not enough to write your affirmation and read it. You must visualize it.
For example, taking our affirmation of “I’m deserving of having the most amazing clients and business that I can dream of”, start visualizing what that looks like to you.
- What will you be wearing?
- What does a day in your life look like?
- Who will you be having coffee with?
- What would your office look like?
- Where would you be working from?
Visualize it. Create a movie. Watch it happen. This is a surefire way to digest how to use affirmations for success.
Step #5: But Most Importantly, Feel Your Affirmation
Finally, feel it. You must feel it in order for your affirmation to come to reality. When you’re chanting your affirmation, feel the wonderful energy and positive vibes. Be excited about it.
Your affirmation shouldn’t feel like a chore to repeat, visualize, and feel.

It’s your dream really come true so envision that dream life of yours. Embrace it and let it come alive; that’s how to use affirmations for success.
Step #6: Be Patient When it Comes to Using Affirmations for Success
Using affirmations for success isn’t an overnight ordeal. It’s not like Advil. It’s more like healthy and natural herbs but for the mind. It works but you need to believe in the process and be patient while the universe is working on your order.
From my past experience, it can take anywhere from 2-3 months for an affirmation to come to true and manifest into real life. In the meantime, you want to take inspired action every day. Take small steps, you can’t expect to chant an affirmation and not take aligned and inspired action every day to make it come true. There is some kind of physical work involved.
When I was using the positive affirmation, “It is safe to be who I am”, I took inspired action by posting to Instagram every day little story snippets of myself. I didn’t hold back and that’s how I suddenly realized that I don’t have a problem showing up as my true, authentic self. Last week, I even received an Instagram collab opportunity. The account asked to feature me and share my story without anything in return just because my content was so authentic and her audience can benefit from it.
Remember, you’re co-creating with the universe so you have to take small steps to let it know that you’re doing your part as well.
I promise that learning how to use affirmations for success is a fun process even though you have to be patient.
